Port Vincent is a beautiful little town situated on the east coast of The Yorke Peninsula in South Australia.Map of Australia

It has a stable population of about 465, however during the tourist (summer) season this swells to over 2,000.

The brigades appliance is a " 2-4 " (pronounced two - four) type, that is, it carries 2,000 litres of water and is 4 wheel drive. The appliance also carries road accident rescue equipment ( jaws of life), and is equipped with a AFFF / BFFF foam Proportioner.

The brigade has a membership of 23 of which 19 are operational firefighters & 3 are support (auxiliary) members & 1 is a cadet. The members gel well together with regular brigade social activities.

The year 2009 was mostly a quite one for us incident wise & we were quite happy to it have that way. 2010 has  ( so far ) been quite busy.

The  2009 / 2010 Fire Danger Season will finish on the 30th of April

Check with your Local Council, or The CFS for more details before lighting ANY fire.

On the 1st of January (New Years Day) each year the town has a Gala Day and the brigade plays an important role each year by providing displays and demonstrations on the day. The day finishes with a fireworks display, but because January is in the height of the fire danger season in Australia, the brigade keeps a close watch on the display.

Recent brigade activities off the fire ground will include taking part in the Region Two Field Day, run this year in & around the Adelaide Hills area of South Australia.

" Konvoy For Kids"

( Held each year in Adelaide)

Being part of the annual "Konvoy For Kids", again in Adelaide which gives sick & disadvantaged kids a chance to ride on the back of a Fire Engine along the main roads under full lights & sirens. The expression on the kids faces after the event said it all, - fantastic success and we were proud to be part of it. There is an estimated 10 thousand people lining the route waving & cheering to the kids as we passed by.
